Coast and Harbor provided construction management support services on the new LEED Silver construction of a border patrol station in Swanton, Vermont. This project used the Design-Build delivery method.
Project Highlights
This new Border Patrol Station assists the U.S. Border Patrol to perform its mission on the northern U.S. border. The facilities include a station building with sally port, biohazard hold, holding cells, canine kennels, interrogation rooms, office space, HAZMAT area, and exercise rooms. There is also an emergency generator and fire pump with water storage tank for fire protection.
Additional features included:
- 10,000 square-foot green roof on the training center, which mitigates storm water run-off and heat-island effects
- Solar-heated domestic hot water system at the training center, facilitated by rooftop solar collectors and a heat exchange system
- A photovoltaic array in the parking lot that produces approximately 3.6 percent of the total building power
- Heating and cooling supported by a closed-loop geothermal well system.
