Owner’s Project Management Expert and Published Author Begins Second Tenure on Board of Trustees at Salem State University
MARBLEHEAD, MA – Claude G. Lancome, Executive Vice President of Coast and Harbor Associates, Inc., has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of Salem State University by Governor Maura Healey, effective July 1, 2025. Lancome was officially sworn in on July 2, 2025, and participated in a Trustee luncheon with President Keenan on July 15. This marks Lancome’s second term serving the university in this role, first appointed by Governor Deval Patrick in 2012.

Lancome brings over 30 years of experience in construction project management, contract administration, and legal expertise to his trustee role. As Executive Vice President and in-house counsel at Coast and Harbor Associates, he has overseen projects ranging from $500,000 to over $150 million in value, with an aggregate project portfolio exceeding $2.75 billion. His extensive educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Earlham College and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. He is a former Chair of the Construction Law Committee of the MA Bar Association.
A recognized expert in construction contract administration, Lancome is the author of “Construction Contract Administration for Project Owners,” published by Routledge in 2017 and released in paperback in 2024. He holds certifications as both a Construction Arbitrator (1994) and Construction Mediator (1996) from the American Arbitration Association.
Beyond his professional achievements, Lancome demonstrates a strong commitment to education and community service. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Urban College of Boston and the Board of Directors of the Salem State University Assistance Corporation. He sits on the Quality of Care Committee of the Tufts Medical Center. His extensive board service includes previous roles with Thompson Island Education Center, Jewish Vocational Center, Massachusetts Appleseed Center for Law and Justice, and the Massachusetts Bay Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Born in Monterey, Massachusetts, Lancome has had a project management role in major construction projects throughout New England, Texas, and Puerto Rico, including federal facilities, university buildings, and complex infrastructure projects.
Coast and Harbor’s portfolio includes new construction, modernization, and energy retrofits, and brings extensive experience with LEED-certified projects, including Gold and Platinum. Notable projects under his leadership include the renovation of the National Park Service Regional Headquarters in Boston, the construction management for various university campuses, the new Land Port of Entry facilities in Maine and Texas.
